1. Call to Order and Welcome. Joe O’Brien called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. The Agenda was adopted as printed.
2. Review and approval of minutes of previous meeting(s). Minutes from the June meeting were approved.
3. Review and approval of financial statements. The financial statements for June and July were accepted as printed pending clarification. Nancy will check to see if she can revise reports to show the monthly totals.
4. Customer Comments.
Tanner was getting heavy yellow coloring from the flushing.
Henry Listenik said he had to run more water because it was colored after the flushing. He averaged out his last two invoices and paid that instead of what he was billed.
Carl Reimer told Joe he had a chlorination problem. The water wasn’t gassing off.
Joe heard from someone on Meadow Lane that they had discolored water after flushing.
Steve spoke with Paige Manning, who would like a letter from us. They had no problem with the flushing. It didn’t cause a disturbance, but the trucks going by did. They have a clogged heater and boiler that will cost around $10,000.00. They bored a line under Route 15 to the telephone pole right by their house. We located the shut off, which was 15’ to 20’ from where the drilling and excavation was around the pole. They brought in a draught digger and roller and rolling compactor, which were all vibrating. Joe will write a letter on their behalf.
Shawn Martell from the UJFD wanted us to put a 5” steamer connection on the hydrant at Harvest Crossing.
Tracy Bessett at 1 Park Street said her water smells like chlorine, is brown and has a taste. Joe spoke with her.
Peter Booth said he had a significant drop in water pressure. Nancy sent him usage for last year.
Andy Forsberg said his pipes were rattling and pressure was inconsistent. Said the pressure tank was not working properly on Poker Hill. No issues otherwise on Poker Hill.
Steve said there is a Facebook survey like the one in Jericho for the 6,000 gallon septic system.
5. Operations Report.
Test Results and Testing.
Bacteria results negative.
Fluoride results within tolerance.
Routine testing and operations.
Hydrant flushing was done in June.
The operating stem nut for the hydrant at Jacob’s Hill spins, but does not seem to do anything. Joe said it is the one that got run over two years ago. It is covered with a bag so that it will not be used. Joe will have ECI look at it.
Champlin Associates found a number of things that need fixing on the Poker Hill booster pump station. They ordered a new pressure tank, which was supposed to be here yesterday.
Brian used a grinder to remove the Maple Ridge cistern hatch cover corroded handle. It is now secured with a lock and chain.
Joe said the ditching that was done at Maple Ridge exposed his water line.
Steve suggested we repaint all of the water covers.
6. Old Business.
A. For the O&M Manual, there is one set of data left. Brian is working on it.
B. The Poker Hill generator was installed two weeks ago. It seems to be running well.
C. For the hydrant replacement at 385 VT Route 15, Steve and Brian located the gate valves needed to isolate the main to put in the sleeve. They found the shut offs. They also cleaned out and removed muck from the Park Street gate valve standpipe.
ECI is coming Tuesday, August 11, for the replacement. They will be there around 6:30/7:00. Water will be shut off at 8:00 a.m. for four plus hours. ECI has the Department of Motor Vehicles Permit. The hydrant is ready to be installed. Water will be shut off from Park Street all the way down to Raceway. They will test with the hydrant at Palmer Lane.
D. For the storage building, Steve has the door ready to go in. He has to cut a hole and plug in. Liam left the clapboards that need to be replaced undone. Steve has a power lift to lift the corner and put back. Will put C channel on corners. Have PVC to sell. Tanner said he would take some. Steve will ask Emmett if he needs some for soccer goals. Liam worked on painting two sides facing sun on the pump house.
7. New Business.
A. For the tank inspections, things looked good inside. The build up was minimal. One was clear and the other was a little murky.
B. For the lead copper requirements, Joe sent info on what to do if we can’t find any lead. Has not received an answer.
C. For the Source Protection Plan, Joe will get on. He talked with the owner of SOS, who has someone if we want to contract with them. Marc doesn’t want to do it. Joe will ask for a price.
D. For the Harvest Crossing infrastructure work, AJ McDonald out of Lyndonville is doing it. They purchased Governor Scott’s company in Middlesex. They have a knowledgeable foreman. He took pictures of pressure testing and talked about the service line. There is blue 6” piping and wire tracing. There is a full set of plans. They are building the duplex and three individual single-family houses this year. Assume they will build other ones across the road. They will owe us when we give them the meters.
8. Next Regular Meeting. Next regular meeting September 1, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
9. Review and Approve Bills. Bills were reviewed and approved.
